Thinking of transferring?

We can visit you at home to talk through what would be involved. We'll make the transfer process as smooth as possible - it could be within 6 weeks.

We can put you in touch with one of our carers who can talk you through their experiences of transferring to us and the benefits of fostering with Suffolk County Council.

Read more about why you should foster with your council versus fostering with Independent Fostering Agencies (IFAs).

…it was a very smooth transition. I had the panel during lockdown so it was on the phone. It was lovely, they’re all lovely people. It was actually quite a nice experience and I'm really glad I did it.

Why transfer to us?

All Suffolk children in care are the responsibility of Suffolk County Council. We match children with our own approved foster carers before approaching other fostering providers. At Suffolk Fostering Service, we are passionate about:

Creating positive outcomes for children
We maximise local resources and hold accountability to taxpayers
Matching children with the right carers
At Suffolk we know both the carer and the child and believe we are best placed to find the best match
Providing competitive fees and allowances
We offer 21 nights paid respite, insurance, paid mileage and loan essential equipment and computers
Providing an extensive range of training and learning opportunities
Including accredited qualifications, online courses and local training
Ensuring 24/7 support and regular supervision is available
Including support from health, educational and therapeutic agencies, and support from a dedicated fostering Social Worker
